Free PVS-Studio license for open source

The PVS-Studio team loves open-source projects. If you are working on such projects, we are ready to offer you a free one-year license with the possibility of an annual renewal.

You can read more about the initiative here.

Licensing terms

The free license does not apply to the following types of projects:

  • commercial (the project under development creates business value)
  • developed by organizations (financing and/or hiring developers)
  • mirrors and forks.

The PVS-Studio open-source license is intended for personal creative projects. The license allows the author to accept donations from their community.

License usage rules

If your project complies with the licensing terms, follow these simple rules to use the license:

  • Use one license for one project.
  • Mention PVS-Studio in commits and pull requests. The rule applies only to commits where you fix the issues found by PVS-Studio. For example, you can leave the following comment: "Fixed issues found by PVS-Studio".
  • Add the following Markdown markup fragment to README.md:

## SAST Tools

[PVS-Studio](https://pvs-studio.com/en/pvs-studio/?utm_source=website&utm_medium=github&utm_campaign=open_source) - static analyzer for C, C++, C#, and Java code.

If you already have a section that describes tools you use for code quality control, you can add the fragment there, keeping the link and description.

For all other projects, and if you would like to evaluate our product first, please request a trial license. If you are in doubt about the type of license for your project, you can consult us via the feedback form.

How to get license

  • Important. First, modify README.md according to the rules above;
