PVS-Studio Integration with C++Builder …

PVS-Studio Integration with C++Builder to be Canceled Soon

Jul 25 2014
Author:

In the nearest future, we are removing the feature of PVS-Studio's integration into the Embarcadero C++Builder (RAD Studio) IDE.

We started supporting C++Builder in PVS-Studio 5.0 in the beginning of 2013. Since then, we have implemented support for a whole lot of versions: Embarcadero RAD Studio XE5, XE4, XE3, XE2, XE, 2010, 2009.

There is unfortunately too little interest toward this feature of PVS-Studio, while its maintenance requires quite a bit of effort. Firstly, new RAD Studio versions are regularly released, so we constantly need to support them. Secondly, we have to test PVS-Studio under different versions and maintain a lot of tests. Thirdly, supporting even one infrastructure for so many IDE versions demands too much effort by itself.

Due to all that, we are going to stop supporting Embarcadero RAD Studio and Embarcadero C++Builder in the nearest PVS-Studio versions. Instead, we will focus on improving PVS-Studio for Microsoft Visual Studio (Microsoft Visual C++) as the product is much more commercially popular in this ecosystem.
